Jack Osteen brings more than 30 years of success in media, advertising, publishing, marketing, restaurant management and real estate to Coldwell Banker Commercial Cornerstone since joining the team in 2017.
Jack also works with Sherman & Roylance, a boutique senior housing firm based in California where he is the Director of the Southeast Region and a Certified Senior Housing Investment Professional (CSHIP).
Before joining CBC, he served as editor and publisher for more than 12 years of his family’s newspaper, The Sumter Item. He is co-owner of Osteen Publishing Co. and owns newspapers in Baldwin County, Alabama along with the Lexington (SC) County Chronicle and Bluffton and Hilton Head Sun newspapers.
Over the years, Jack has worked on various commercial and economic development deals with both the city and county of Sumter. He has closed numerous deals ranging from large retail buildings to medical facilities to signing dozens of leases for business owners. He has developed several mixed-use projects in Downtown Sumter where he is a partner and owner.
He is a graduate of Woodberry Forest High School in Virginia and holds a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in business from the University of South Carolina-Columbia.
In 2024 Jack was awarded the Coldwell Banker Commercial Bronze Circle of Distinction. Jack has served as chairman of the Greater Sumter Chamber of Commerce (2015 Businessperson of the Year), president of the Sumter Rotary Club (2015 Rotarian of the Year), president of the South Carolina Press Association, president of the YMCA board and Chairman of the United Way Board. In 2016, he was awarded the Air Force Distinguished Public Service Award by former Air Force Chief of Staff General Mark Welsh. He is a member of the Sumter Economic Development Board and Sumter EDGE. He is a graduate of both Leadership Sumter and leadership South Carolina. Jack is married to Susan Doherty Osteen and has a daughter Elise and a son John.
